Work Rehabilitation
The Work Rehabilitation Program at Progressive Physical Therapy is a
start-to-finish industrial rehabilitation approach. This approach is
designed to progress patients through the rehabilitation process in a
manner which restores normal function and reconditions them for
returning to work. Additionally, the work rehabilitation program
streamlines the rehabilitation process to prevent excessive
de-conditioning and a protracted rehabilitation time.
The structure of the program includes Acute Phase Rehabilitation,
Sub-acute Phase Rehabilitation, and Reconditioning. In the Acute Phase,
we focus on relieving the patient's muscle spasms and pain, restoring
motion and flexibility, and providing body mechanics education. In the
Sub-acute Phase, we introduce strength and lumbosacral stabilization
exercises to support our continuing work in pain control and
mobilization. During Reconditioning, we advance the patient into the
work rehab portion of the program where we concentrate on addressing
specific deficiencies and preparing for the return to work.
Throughout this process, we're committed to serving not just the
patient but all the "clients" in the case. We communicate the patient's
capacity, limitations, and progress to the physician, the employer, and
the insurance provider so that all parties have a clear picture of how
well the patient can perform the specific job.
